Simply Stampin Challenge - Week 44 - Colour Challenge!

This week I have decided to take a totally different style as my inspiration and use a SteamPunk feel. The colours in the challenge are Early Espresso, River Rock, Not Quite Navy and Very Vanilla. I received a beautiful ATC swap earlier in the week, and so this one will be making its way back...

I have used lots of layers of papers with tears and various stamps layered up as well - I love texture so have also added embossing, ribbon and rhinestones!

The photo below shows some of the most beautiful veining on the wings I have used - part of the butterfly stamp from the Strength & Hope set. I have also been a bit naughty and used a non SU stamp for the lady... but she worked so well I couldn't resist!

I hope you like my creation, and here is the recipe:

Stamp Sets: Strength & Hope, Little Princess, Sophia (non SU)
Card Stock: Early Espresso, River Rock, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla
Inks: VersaMark, Early Espresso, Not Quite Navy
Papers: First Edition, Springtime Vintage.
Ribbon: Early Espresso.
Other: Basic Rhinestones, Sweet Buttons Embosslit Die, ATC die (non SU), Cuttlebug (non SU), Mica Powder (non SU)

I am entering this ATC into the following challenge/s:

flutterbywednesdays - use embossing
craftycatzweeklychallenge - things with wings
stampinfortheweekend - use embossing
glittergeeks - myths and legends

Simply Stampin Challenge - To Die For

Hellooooooooooooo! How are you all? I have had an eventful week with a bad back and a very poorly puppy to look after. My poor little girl has got Colitis (inflammation of the colon) and has been passing blood all week :( several vet trips later she is finally on the mend, which is a big relief. Anyway, onto the challenge - 'To Die For' (Die Cutting in case it wasn't clear!)

I have used my new Beautiful Wings embosslit die to make the butterflies, and I am totally in love with it! This little embosslit cuts and embosses the design in one go, and each butterfly has a different pattern on it.

I have used some of the New First Edition Speciality Designer Papers for the background, and over stamped it using the large silhouette stamp from the Just Believe set. The Happy Birthday motif is from another new set, Happiest Birthday Wishes, and coordinates with various punches.

You can just about see in the picture below where I have sprayed the background paper with a bronze mica powder suspension - I love mica powders, they add such a gorgeous metallic sheen to your creations and can be used a multitude of ways.

Lastly the card blank itself has been cut out with the top note die, being careful to keep some of the spine intact to allow the card to open and close and not end up with two separate pieces!

I hope you like it!

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Just Believe, Happiest Birthday Wishes
Card Stock: Whisper White, Pacific Point, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink
Inks: Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Bronze Mica (non SU)
Punches/Dies: Beautiful Wings, Top Note, 1-3/8" circle, 1-3/4" scallop circle.
Other: First Edition Speciality Papers.

Monday 9 January 2012

Good Morning! I have been having a rummage through some of my older card photos and samples and came across this one which I don't believe you have seen yet:

I do like it, but wish I had left out the yellow as it is too distracting... but we all have to make mistakes! It uses the now retired Fun and Fast Notes, which I still love but don't use nearly as often as I should. Well that is it for today, as I am very busy preparing for my all day Birthday Bash card workshop on the 22nd, and I have a mounting of cutting to do.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: Fun and Fast Notes, Sanded (both retired)
Card Stock: Real Red, Whisper White, Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy, Old Olive.
Inks: Night of Navy, Real Red, Old Olive, Regal Rose, Black StazOn.
Other: Linen Thread.

Simply Stampin Challenge - Lucky Limeade, Pink Pirouette, Pool Party, Whisper White.

Hello Hello Hello! I am so glad to be back, it has been very frustrating not knowing when I would be able to take part in the challenge again. This year it is off to a great start with a colour combo challenge, so here is my offering:

A little custom made box filled with a set of thank you note-lets - there are 6 in the box, but I have only displayed 3. Here is a close up of 2 of the designs:

For those of you who know Stampin' Up! products rather well, you will see that I have swapped out Pool Party card and ribbon for Bashful Blue - simply because I ran out over the holidays so picked the closest match out of what I did have.

I hope you like them, I do! I find it really difficult to do clean and simple type designs, so this seems to be a step in the right direction in that respect.

Recipe:
Stamp Sets: So Many Thanks, So Swirly
Card Stock: Pink Pirouette, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White, Bashful Blue (sub for Pool Party)
Inks: Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip
Ribbon: Bashful Blue (sub for Pool Party)
Punches: Scallop Trim Border.
